STEM FAMILY NIGHT STUDENT VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO WEDNESDAY , APRIL 1st!!
We need responsible high school volunteers to work with every STEM demonstrator on Wednesday, April 1st from 5:00-7:30. Many of our STEM Demonstrators are phD's and undergrad/graduate students working in the fields of chemistry, engineering and robotics. Volunteers will assist the STEM demonstrator with setup/breakdown if needed, assist the children with the hands on activity, regulate the flow of students/families in and out and assist students with their STEM@Root Family Night Challenge. Dinner will be provided for volunteers that work the entire time from 5:00-7:30 pm.
The theme of our STEM Family Night @ Root is "Planting Seeds for the Future ". When students arrive, they will receive a Welcome to our World, STEM Family Night flyer that will outline the locations of all the STEM Activity Stations. On the back of the flyer is the STEM@Root Family Night Challenge. Each time a child visits a STEM Activity Station, they get to add a part of a plant to their STEM Family Challenge Flyer. They can "grow" as many plants as they want depending on how many stations they visit. There will be a container of crayons at each station for students to use. If students visit at least 6 STEM Activity Stations and write down what their favorite station was, they will earn a packet of PLANT SEEDS!! Students may turn in their flyers at the front entrance foyer as they leave to get their seed packets.
When you arrive, you will receive a check-in packet that will let you know where your "STEM Station" will be located. We would like you to remain at your assigned "STEM Station" for the entire 2.5 hours 5:00-7:30 pm and stay to assist the demonstrator breakdown if needed.
