Mentor Program
We want every 3rd, 4th and 5th grade student to have an equal opportunity to participate in the STEM Fair @ Root. This is the third year we have offered the STEM Mentor Program. The STEM Mentor Program offers Help Sessions, Materials Assistance and one on one Mentors.
Help sessions are available to help guide students through the Scientific Method and help answer any questions students may have as they are doing their projects. There are a total of 6 help sessions offered between now and the project due date on February 27th. Students must sign up on-line for the specific help session they plan on attending.
Coaches are assigned to students as needed. 3rd ,4th and 5th graders are matched up with a coach as a group or individual who will guide them through the STEM Fair process during school hours from start to finish. Dates and times are scheduled on an individual basis with the teacher. The numbers of students helped in the mentor program is totally dependent on the number of volunteers able to help. Please consider filling out an application to serve as a mentor. Even one hour a week between now and February 27th will help with the mentoring program.
STEM Fair Materials can be requested on your STEM Fair Entry Form. Please list all materials needed on the back of the form. If approved, the STEM Mentor Program will purchase and provide materials needed for your project.
